We have taken a little jump
in our virtual tour of Rome - a short taxi ride to the Trevi Fountain.
This was made very famous in Fellini's
in the scene in
which Anita decides it would be a good idea to go for a shower in the fountain
in the middle of the night....she even persuades Marcello to join her -
he joins in the hope he will steal a kiss...
The fountain was planned by architect Salvi and finished in 1762.. The water is called Vergine because of its spring shown to Agrippa's soldiers by a maid. Agrippa himself built an aqueduct in 19 B.C. carrying the water to Rome for its baths.
According to a tradition, who throws a coin into the basin, will come back to Rome.
In front of the fountain there is the Church of Saints Vincent and Anastasius.
- We have a choice of locations to visit from here.
