A street which has an appearance all its own is the Via Vittorio Veneto,
known everywhere by its shorter name, Via Veneto. It is the basis for the
location of our Virtual Via Veneto
and was the setting for much of Federico's famous film
. Shady plane trees
line its curves, made bright with beautiful flower beds. This is the street
of the big hotels and smart cafe's where, from the beginning of Spring until
late Autumn, the footpaths are always thronged with a leisurely crowd seated
at the rows of small tables. Via Veneto owes its international fame to the
fact of its being the mecca of actors, actresses and celebrities from all
over the world, who live in Rome or may be just passing through.
Via Veneto and adjacent streets have Rome's most elegant and poular night
clubs and bars. Nearby are the little squares and lanes of Old Trastevere,
rich in colour. Here can be found most or Rome's most renowned restaurants
and picturesque trattorias, superb for the enjoyment of gourmet Roman cuisine
and Castelli wines.
