Here, wherever you are in the world, by using the Virtual Via Veneto Time Machine it is possible to take a tour around Rome in late 1959. We can take a number of choices in our itenarary, but like so many tourists we will start our tour at the main railway station - the one Fellini arrived at as, in his own words 'a young man in a white suit'.

We start in Piazza dei Cinquecento (five hundred square). It is named in rememberance of the 500 soldiers killed in the battle at Dorgali in 1887, signified also by the monument of Dorgali. Termini Railway station is situated on this square, on the site of the old station. The station is bustling with trams, cars and railway engines. Vendors attract our attention to buy things and we are wary to avoid pickpockets or people offering us cheap accomodation....
In the station we also find the Museum of Railways, whilst outside there are ancient ruins of Servian Walls dating back from the Republic period. Also in Piazza dei Cinquecento we see the underground railway leading to the many areas of Rome
The overall atmosphere is exciting, lively and rich.
- We have a choice of locations to visit from here.
